Decorating A Wedding Cake

March 20, 2010 at 5:36 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

Nearly every family or social event includes the eating of food and the drinking or drinks in the celebration. Think of Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. In this article, I would like to speak about that centre piece of the wedding reception: the wedding cake.

The guests come to eat, drink and be merry and the bride’s parents always put a great deal of work into the organization of the wedding party. The wedding cake is the central point of the top table and the whole function in general. The wedding cake has traditional importance and it is often thought bad luck not to have a piece of the wedding cake.

There are specific rules for the timing of the cutting of the wedding cake that have become part of tradition. For example, if the wedding reception takes place at lunch or dinner, it is traditional to cut the wedding cake just before the sweet is served.

However, if the reception is to take place in the late afternoon or early evening, the cake is served as soon as the guests arrive. In some traditions the bride and groom cut and eat the first slice together as a symbol of their vows to love, honour and obey each other. The remainder of the cake is generally cut by one of the assistants, like the maid of honour or a family relative.

It can be quite difficult to choose the wedding cake. Traditionally, people opt for a white cake with white icing for weddings, however nowadays, people are becoming more adventurous and are choosing more exotic flavours and colours.

Some people choose to have a wedding cake which has different flavours on each layer. While white icing is still the overwhelming favourite, people do order other colours like pink and yellow. Chocolate and mocha are also popular. These days you can have what you like. It is your day, after all.

Everybody enjoys the wedding reception. It is the most well-liked part of the wedding ceremony and everyone looks forward to seeing the cake cut and sharing it with the bride and groom.

If you are thinking about becoming a cake decorator, you have a couple of options to go about it. You could buy a book or a course or get a video in order to teach yourself how to decorate cakes from the simple to the elaborate. You could also go to a night school class to learn the art or cake decoration.

Without a doubt, the very best way to learn cake decorating is to take a course. DVD’s, videos, and books are all well and good, but you cannot converse with them or ask questions. If you attend a class for three months or more you will learn more and get a more profound understanding of the art of cake decoration. You will learn how to put real emotion into the decoration of the cake and you will be able to translate the wedding couple’s dreams into a cake that you and they can be proud of.

Do Not Choose Your Wedding Ring In Haste

March 19, 2010 at 9:29 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

There is a very large number of wedding rings to be had in the shops these days. In fact, you have the world of wedding rings to pick from. The high street shops in a large town have a pretty good assortment, but the Internet lays the best jewellers and the best styles out for your perusal.

So, it is essential that you take your time when selecting one. Maybe the enormous choice of wedding rings makes that more difficult not easier. Diamond wedding rings have been the most popular since ordinary working people could afford them, before that a plain band of gold had to suffice, for people who could afford that much.

Nowadays, Western people have become more adventurous and they are choosing other stones like the stunningly beautiful blue sapphire. Some even choosing not to have a stone at all, going back to tradition, so to speak. However, there are plenty of examples of not so plain bands of gold too.

There is the Irish Claddagh ring with its characteristic two hands holding a crowned heart symbolizing love, friendship and loyalty; and there is the Celtic Knot with its intricately interwoven strands twisting and turning without end, standing for eternity and eternal love despite the twists and turns and difficulties of daily life.

So, choosing a wedding ring is not just a question of choosing a beautiful wedding ring, you should be choosing one that says what you want it to say. You could look up on the Internet what the different metals and various stones mean traditionally. If you cannot find a ring that says what you want, think about having one made. It is not as expensive as you might think.

Tradition is a good idea when it comes to wedding rings. After all, you want your ring to express your everlasting love and devotion for the person you are giving it to and your marriage could last fifty or sixty years, especially with people living longer these days. With a bit of luck, you will wear this ring for the rest of your life, so choose a style that seems timeless to you.

Picking a wedding ring is not as straightforward as it looks, because you are going to be wearing your ring every day for the rest of your life, so it should be something that you will not get tired of in a couple years. You should look at and try on many rings in order to get one that feels comfortable. You will want a ring that does not look out of date in ten years time. The simplest method of doing that is to go for a traditional style, because those styles have already stood the test of time.

One last piece of advice is to ask the jeweller to verify the total carat weight of the stones in the ring and the weight of each individual stone and the quality and weight of the metal (although it should be hallmarked) on paper, then if it gets lost or stolen you have something to show the insurance company.

One Of A Kind Wedding Rings

March 18, 2010 at 10:49 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

The tradition of giving and wearing a wedding ring dates back thousands of years. A wedding ring symbolizes faithfulness and love between two people and are given on the day of a couple joining forces. Before the time that the knowledge of how to work metal became widely known, people used such things as plants, grass and even hair to ‘tie the knot’, which is what I think a wedding ring symbolizes.

These days a typical wedding ring might be made from precious metals such as gold, titanium, platinum or even white gold. Women’s wedding rings often hold a diamond, although sapphires are rapidly becoming more prevalent. Men’s wedding rings are frequently just a simple band of gold. There are many different styles of wedding rings, but the most popular for men is definitely the plain gold band.

For those who want something a bit more flamboyant, there are plenty of examples on the market. A man might want a more ostentatious wedding ring, because it is often the only piece of jewellery that a man wears. Some alternatives to the plain band of gold are the Celtic Knot and the Claddagh gold rings.

It is essential for men’s wedding rings to be made from a robust alloy of gold. Most men do manual labour of one sort or another, even if it is only gardening, so it is a lot to ask of a pure gold wedding ring to last thirty or forty years.

A 14 or 18 carat gold ring will probably do it, but a 22 carat ring would not. It would just wear away because it is too pure and consequently too soft. Platinum or titanium are much harder, although most people prefer gold.

In most countries convention dictates that people wear their wedding ring on their left hand, although in a couple of countries such as Germany, Russia and Norway, people wear their wedding ring on the right hand.

Some couples would rather have a unique wedding ring and that is not so difficult to achieve as it might first appear to be. The easiest way to personalize your ring is to have an inscription like names and a date engraved on it.

Another way, would be to buy a precious stone separately and have the jeweller set it into the ring for you. The best alternative though is to find a jeweller you can trust and have him or her make up a pair of identical rings to your own design. I have done that and it is not a lot more expensive than a decent ring.

Wearing matching wedding rings is a notable experience. People notice that your ring is ’something different’ and many people ask, where you got them from. It all goes to help make that special day unforgettable for ever.

Should Breathalizers be Installed on all Factory Vehicles?

March 17, 2010 at 7:32 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

Should there be breathalizers on all cars, is a question that many people are asking when it comes to a lot of the newer cars that are being manufactured by leading automobile providers. Before, these breathalyzers were only mandated to be in the cars of individuals that had been convicted of driving while intoxicated, however there have been a lot of debates about these breathalyzers being installed in all vehicles.

The device is a small machine that has a tube that the driver has to blow into to. There are some machines that will not allow your vehicle to run until you blow into this tube, while there are other machines that will stall if they detect alcohol on your breath that is above the legal limit.

The idea to have these machines installed in all vehicles, once seemed like a pretty outlandish thing to do. However, over time a lot of different organizations have come together and decided that having one of these machines in every vehicle may not be a bad idea.

These machines being placed in motor vehicles have both good as well as bad attributes that many people are feeding off of to showcase their opinion on the matter. In fact, there are a plethora of people that declare that putting these machines in vehicles is actually a violation of a persons constitutional rights.

In most states throughout the United States a judge will mandate an individual that has been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol to have one of these machines in their vehicles for an allocated period of time. Many people believe in order to eliminate people even considering driving while drunk, implementing the law that all vehicles have this machine is actually a great idea.

All around the world there are literally hundreds of thousands of people that lost their lives because of an irresponsible drunk driver. When you consider the people that lost their lives due to another drivers carelessness, the idea to have these machines installed does not seem silly in the least. In fact, having a machine in every vehicle may make the open roads a lot safer to drive on.

Even though there are still presently a lot of debates that have to be settled on the decision to implement that all vehicles have breathalyzers inside of them, the possibility is becoming a lot more likely. Not only will these machines cut back on the amount of people that die on the account of a drunk driver, but it will also enforce the drunk driving laws throughout the entire world.

What Is A Celtic Wedding?

March 16, 2010 at 8:07 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

Celtic wedding are an ideal way of showing your being a Celt. It is also a way of incorporating traditional values, symbols, themes and customs into major events in your life. However, Celtic wedding are hugely popular not only among people with a Celtic tradition, but among other couples who are taken by the ancient Celtic culture.

Celtic wedding have traditional symbolic decorations, often based on the Celtic knot. Welsh, Irish and Scottish families will occasionally marry in ancient buildings like castles or old manors, but that is not the standard. A traditional Celtic wedding is not significantly different from a normal British wedding in a lot of ways.

However, the number of similarities between Celtic wedding traditions and normal British-style weddings goes a lot further than that. If you want a traditional British style wedding, you will be going unwittingly for a Celtic wedding. But you can beef up the Celtic part of the wedding ceremony even further without sinking into silly theatrics.

This is a traditional Celtic poem about when to marry:

Marry when the year is new, Always loving, kind and true.

When February birds do mate, You may wed, nor dread your fate.

If you wed when March winds blow, Joy and sorrow both you’ll know.

Marry in April when you can, Joy for maiden and for man.

Marry in the month of May, You will surely rue the day.

Marry when June roses blow, Over land and sea you’ll go.

They who in July do wed, Must labour always for their bread.

Whoever wed in August be, Many a change are sure to see.

Marry in September’s shine, Your living will be rich and fine.

If in October you do marry, Love will come but riches tarry.

If you wed in bleak November, Only joy will come, remember.

When December’s showers fall fast, Marry and true love will last.

Here are a few other traditions:

Loving Cup: The traditional cup is a two-handled bowl with Celtic designs engraved onto it. The idea of the Loving Cup ceremony is for the bride and groom to share their first drink together as husband and wife and to demonstrate the coming together of their two families.

The Bell of Truce: A bell is blessed and then given to the bride and groom. The couple is required to ring the bell, while thinking loving thoughts of each other. The bell is then kept at home as a token of the wedding day. If an argument begins, the bell can be rung by either the husband or wife to call a truce. The tinkling sound is intended to remind the couple of their wedding vows and to help them relive happy memories from their wedding day.

Handfasting: Early Celts used to ?tie the knot?. It dates back to a pre-Christian custom of literally tying a couple’s wrists together in a kind of trial marriage lasting a year and a day, at the end of which a new agreement was made or the couple parted ways.

Bride’s Bouquet: In Celtic wedding traditions brides carried herbs beneath their veils to signify fidelity, and spices to frighten off evil spirits.

Ring finger: Ancient Celts thought that there was a vein in the third finger of the left hand that ran directly to the heart, so ring placed on that finger demonstrated a strong love and vow to the other.

Wedding cake: A thin loaf was broken over the bride’s head at the end of the service to indicate fertility. The wheat from which it was made symbolized fertility and the guests enthusiastically picked up the pieces for good luck charms.

It was also common for the Celtic groom to toss a handful of coins into the crowd after the wedding, in the belief that this would bring them good fortune in the years ahead.

Finding An Illinois Workers Compensation Attorney In Your Area

March 14, 2010 at 7:35 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

If you’ve just been through an injury at work, you’re probably looking to collect worker’s compensation to cover your expenses while you heal up. Before you do anything, you probably want to talk to an Illinois workers compensation attorney. Hopefully, the people who make the decisions on the matter will play fair with you and you won’t have to take your case to court or anything else so extreme, but you want to make sure that you’re prepared, and that you’re getting good advice from a qualified legal professional. Ideally, both sides want to keep it out of court, but they will try to keep you from just collecting your compensation that easy…

Here are a few things you want to keep in mind…

Nobody Wants To Pay You

It’s not really that they don’t want to pay you, rather, they just need you to prove that your injuries are legitimate. The problem is that there are just so many scammers out there looking for a free ride that they can’t afford to come at the situation from an area of trust. They have to assume that you’re lying, and have you prove that you’re legitimately injured. Sadly, the scammers have ruined it for the rest of us, and workers comp isn’t always easy to collect.

Know Your Lawyer

Don’t just pop open the yellow pages and call the first number you see under “legal advice”. Rather, look online for recommendations and referrals and make sure that the attorney you’re calling actually specializes in workers compensation cases. You need to make sure that the attorney you’re talking to knows what they’re talking about, and the only way to be sure is to do your homework on the attorney you’re calling. Talk to them before you need them, and make sure that you and they have a good working relationship just in case they need to represent you.

Don’t Try To Exaggerate the Extent of Your Injuries

If you break a toe, don’t tell them you broke your leg. If you sprained your back, don’t tell them you may never walk again! If they find one inconsistency, it will call your entire story into question. They WILL look at X-rays and doctor reports, and they’re not going to pay you a dime if you’re not completely forthcoming with them. So play it straight and let your attorney work out your strategy for presenting your case. Even a little white lie can qualify as fraud in a court of law.

To learn information regarding the Epstein Law Firm, you can call them or find them on the Web. A lot of websites are there to help you find them to help. Illinois Workers Compensation Attorney can also be found online.

How Do You Take A Psychic Abilities Quiz?

March 13, 2010 at 6:36 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

So how do you tell if you have psychic abilities or not? One way is with a psychic abilities quiz. There are two types of quiz. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

The classic esp test uses a bicycle-brand esp card-deck that has five symbols – circle, square, triangle , plus sign and wave. The examiner holds up one card at a time and you have to guess each in turn. This test has been around for decades and was even featured in the first Ghostbusters movie (where Bill Murray tests an unwitting subject).

With advances in computer and internet software this type of test is now available on the internet in several places. There is a real problem with this test, especially the internet-based ones. This type of psychic abilities quiz only really tests for clairvoyance – whether you can “see” the future. But there are many types of psychic ability – the power to move objects (telekinesis), the ability to receive psychic messages by hearing (clairaudience), the ability to strongly connect to others and receive subtle information through feeling or touch (clairsentience or psychometry) and several others.

The other type of test is what scientists would call a qualitative one – in simple terms using a questionnaire to capture the “quality” of someone’s experience (the opposite type – quantitative – measures amounts using statistics). Using a questionnaire-format recognises that it can be difficult to measure psychic ability in a black and white way. The world of the occult is more greyscale, with blurred edges and margins, and gradual transitions between different levels of ability.

This type has several advantages compared to the classic card-based esp test. Firstly, it can identify a much wider range of psychic ability (depending on the question design) including the “big three” discussed above, but also telekinesis, spiritual guidance, and lucid dreaming. Secondly, it allows for (and even relies on) the fuzziness that exists in the psychic world – the blurring of borders between the presence or absence of psychic abilities. And thirdly, it allows you to measure your progress over time – by taking the same test at various intervals during the development of your psychic skills, you are able to gauge your improvement.

Summary Points *Two types of psychic test. *One is card-based but mainly identifies clairvoyant ability. *The other is questionnaire-based and is able to identify a wide range of psychic ability types and grades.

7-Reasons To Buy Michigan Life Insurance

March 12, 2010 at 8:53 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

Michigan life insurance policy mollifies those extenuating life altering scenarios. The ultimate value for purchasing a Michigan life insurance policy is to have a financial contingency plan for loved ones. It does not matter if a person is married or single, seven situations give good cause to purchase a Michigan life insurance policy, including:

Financial obligations. Married couples often purchase a life insurance policy as a financial cushion to cover expenses in the event of tragedy. Most married couples assign each other as the life insurance’s beneficiary.

Divorce declaration. Financial responsibilities do not disappear when couples part ways. Consequently, life insurance is a viable consideration of the divorce decree. Additionally, in situations where one ex spouse pays child support, a Michigan life insurance policy ensures protection for the parents or children in the event of a mishap.

Single parenting. A Michigan life insurance policy represents an income substitute, if something should happen to a single parent; at least the children have a modicum of financial stability.

Other dependents. Moreover, life insurance protects other family members, who are financially dependent (in example: siblings, parents, spouse) upon the household’s main source of income. Also, a Michigan life insurance policy acts a simple catalyst for creating an inheritance nest egg for beneficiaries.

Estate taxes. Quite often, consumers opt for a life insurance policy to offset heir’s estate taxes. In this case, a Michigan life insurance policy would ensure that the heirs don’t have to settle for a reduced inheritance or liquidate other assets.

Final arrangements. In the event of death, a Michigan life insurance can cover funeral, burial, other estate administration costs and, remaining debts.

Forced savings. When the death benefits go unpaid, certain Michigan life insurance programs have a cash value policy, enabling the account holder to withdraw or borrow against the plan. Even more redeeming is that the interest is tax deferred; but not all life insurance policies offer the same benefits.

Boarding Dogs In Temporary Kennels

March 11, 2010 at 8:57 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

Are you the type of dog owner who likes to take your companion with you wherever you go? If you are then you know that that there are times when you can do this, but there are also times when you can not, for whatever reason.

On the occasions when that happens, you will usually have to to find a boarding kennels that will take care of your dog while you are away.

A vacation is a time for relaxing, so you do not want to be worrying about your pet, if you can help it. Within your own country, it is not usually a big problem, but if you go abroad, then taking your dog can be more trouble than it is worth. Not only for you, but for your doggy friend too.

If you can not board your dog with someone it knows, like a member of your family or a neighbour, then the only alternative is a boarding kennels.

I have put my dog in a bad kennel once and I learned a few lessons from that. I put my Becky in a kennel in a highly regarded village just outside our town. I was happy with what I saw and the sales pitch of the owner, so I went to Spain, thinking that all was fine for both of us. I had a great holiday and went straight to the kennels from the airport on my return, although I had told them a fortnight before that I would pick Becky up the day after my arrival. I just could not wait to see her.

I went to the kennels and they were surprised to see me. Of course, I was a day early. They said that Becky was ‘resting’ and that it would be better to ‘come back tomorrow’. No way! So they took me to see her. I nearly cried. She was sitting in a good sized cage, but on newspaper sodden with pee.

She saw me and just looked down at her paws. I called her name again, but she did not want to know. I paid the bill and put her in the car on the front passenger seat where she always sat. She just looked out the window and showed no interest in me at all.

It took three days before she would speak to me again! The moral of this story is not to be persuaded by big adverts or impressive locations as I was. Ask your dog-owning friends, write into the local paper inviting recommendations, phone the local animal protection society or the kennel club or look on the Internet.

San Jose DWI Lawyer Helps Those Who Are Charged With Drunk Driving

March 10, 2010 at 2:09 am • Posted in PoliticsComments Off

A San Jose DWI lawyer will be the person you need to call if you have been arrested for drunk driving. If you failed the field sobriety test and are taken to the station and then fail the breath test or the blood or urine test then you will be charged with the offense.

If the officer thinks you did not pass according to his subjective observation you will be arrested and taken to the police station. You car or truck will be impounded. At the police station you will go through an alcohol testing.

This does not mean you are actually safe to drive at any level of alcohol but there has to be a legal limit set. It is unclear how much alcohol affects a particular person. But the bottom line is that to drink and drive is an irresponsible act. The person drinking and then driving can injure himself and others and also kill on the road.

The public has made such a complaint that the laws affecting the drunk driver suspect are very strict. In many cases he or she will not have the rights others do in other criminal proceedings.

This is not to say that a person who is actually guilty of the offense should escape punishment but people are still innocent until proven guilty even those who are suspected of driving while under the influence. If you are pulled over and you do not agree to the field sobriety test you are subject to arrest.

If you refuse to take the field sobriety test you will be arrested for failure to comply with the officer’s instructions and not for drunk driving. It will be at the station you will have to take the alcohol test. If your breath, urine, or blood test does not show your above the legal limit you will be let go.

If you are facing DWI charges in SJ, you need to discuss your options with an experienced Sunnyvale DWI Lawyer.
