Benito Mussolini was a leader of the National Fascist Party and an Italian politician. He was one of the main people behind the creation of fascism during the’30s and’40s. He was born in the town of Dovia de Predappio in Forli Province on the 29th July’83. During his reign his hometown became a popular location for his followers to visit, so much so that it was given the name “Duce’s Town”. There are a number of Benito Mussolini facts that can help to give a clear picture of the man.

Nearly forty years after his birth he became Italy’s Prime Minister. It was at around the same time that he began referring to himself as “Il Duce” or the Duke. He also chose to bestow the title of “First Marshal of the Empire” on himself and the Italian King, Victor Emmanual, so that they could have joint control over the country’s armed forces.

After a nearly twenty year term Mussolini was replaced and arrested in’43. He only spent two months in prison as German forces were sent on a rescue mission. He was then taken to the German capital for discussions with Hitler at which time it was decided to set up a temporary government, the Italian Social Republic, close to Lake Garda.

Mussolini’s time as Prime Minister from’22 -’43 resulted in some notable achievements. He managed to improve job opportunities for ordinary citizens and was the first leader to successfully tame the Pontine Marshes with his Public Works programs. He is also credited as solving the Roman Question through negotiating the Lateran Treaty between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Italy.

Mussolini’s policies were also directed at improving the standards in Italy’s economic dependencies and colonies. His first overseas success came with defeating the Greeks on the island of Corfu, even the League of Nations was left powerless to his demands and terms.

Benito Mussolini was well known for having a hands on role of all aspects of government. There were times when he would take over the running of the foreign affairs, colonies, interior, defence, and public works ministries if he felt changes need to be made.

He was executed with his mistress and entourage on 27 April’45. They were trying to escape from Italy to Switzerland where they had planned to take a plane to Spain. At the time they were wearing German Army uniforms so they where easily spotted by communist partisans. Mussolini met his end in the village of Giulino di Mezzegra by firing squad.

Unusual Known Adolf Hitler Facts And Habits

Adolf Hitler facts are all over the history books, but there are some hidden facts not a lot of people ever knew about him.

Adolf was brought into this world on the 20th day of April’89. His fathers name was Alois Hiedler (Hitler). He was a gruff man who was known to place horrible beatings upon his son. He was not kind to Adolf, he never used his hands in these horrific beatings but a very large stick instead.

Through his school years in the elementary grades he was a great student and received good grades. He started losing interest around high school and within his first year there he failed as his grades had dropped to unsatisfactory. Once he turned sixteen he left school never to return to it.

He dabbled in art as a painter starting in his early twenties. His paintings were lovely and most were depictions from post cards of the regions and far off places. Many tourists who visited Vienna bought his works as did many local vendors.

In Germany Adolf started a very harsh campaign to ban smoking. Never a smoker himself he did not see why he should be subjected to it by other people. He was also known to practice vegetarianism.

Adolf grew to be a very good speaker when he would go to the soldiers for speaking engagements. He did this so well because he told the soldiers what he thought they wanted to hear. This is why so many people fell in line to follow under his chancellorship. He was never really interested in becoming a military man but later on changed his mind and went on to receive the prestigious Iron Cross.

These facts regarding Adolf Hitler are a little bizarre to say the least. He could not stand any scents whether it be from soaps, aftershave or colognes and never wore them and did not want those around him wearing them either. His jacket was never taken off in the public eye, he did not care if it was 80 degrees outside the jacket stayed on as long as the public could view him.

Hitlers favorite way to spend an evening was to watch the acts at the circus, he did this up until his suicide. He relished the acts that put women’s lives in danger such as high wire acts and animal acts. His favorite styles of music was from America. He loves college teams songs or anthems. He also listened to operettas by Wagner.

Even though Hitler hated the Jewish people so much, ironically he was part Jewish. His Great Grandmother was Jewish and worked as a house maid for several years for Jewish families.

A very personal one of Adolf Hitler facts is that he was born with only one testicle. Maybe this is why he felt so compelled to show his worth and authority to others? Who knows why Hitler viewed things the way he did but looking back at some of these facts one can see how he turned out the way he did.

If you like into learning a little more about history and the facts of the past, you will be highly interested in Adolf Hitler Facts and you will be able to learn a lot from the Adolf Hitler Info available to you.

A Slice of the Senior Situation

I was having coffee and donuts with neighbors this morning as we do every Friday when the fast-paced conversation suddenly jackknifed in the middle of the table just like a big rig would, causing a verbal pile up about the unemployment situation in Oregon. Presently we’re at a little over twelve percent with rural counties running higher than that. Oregon! One of the first to get hit in the ass and the last to recover.

Our donut crew consists entirely of seniors who in case you didnt know it are also affected by the socialistic policies (thats my opinion) of this administration that are resulting in the meltdown of our U.S. economy. Who we voted for at this juncture really doesnt matter, even if we cant recognize what the real reasons are for the job losses and high prices or who is behind it all. What is important is were all Americans and we all feel the results.

Maria, the 85-year old matriarch widow who sat on my right has a pretty good retirement income and for the most part doesn’t have to worry. She can have a gardener mow her lawn, she take trips and really doesn’t do without. But she is very concerned for her kids who all live in California, which is experiencing an economic meltdown.

On my left sat Pete, in his seventies who suffers from a type of palsy but has a great sense of humor and tries to live out his days not thinking too much about economics. His wife Doris however, is very concerned. They’ve already had to sell their home because they just couldn’t afford to stay there any more and now they live in a much smaller apartment. I’m sure she wonders what will become of her when Pete dies.

Bob, the diabetic and his wife Paula sit together. Bob just had part of his stomach removed for some reason and lost some weight, too. He and Paula (both in their sixties) are officially retired but Bob still has to do the books and taxes for some local companies in order to make ends meet. It seems they’re feeling the pinch, too.

Being a sixty-six year old guy it would be nice to retire. So many people just assume that I’m enjoying the fruits of my past labor and living the good life. Here’s a wake-up call for all of those that think everyone my age is actually retired. Many, many of us can’t afford retirement. In fact, I predict that it’s going to get a lot worse for seniors in the future if the economy continues as it is.

Let’s use me as an example. I compose articles to submit online. This is one of many published on the Internet. Since Social Security doesn’t pay me enough to live on and I have no pension, this is how I make my living. No complaints! It’s my reality and so long as I can still continue writing, I’ll survive and thrive.

In any case, next Friday the donut crew will gather around the table again, I suppose. The talk will be about the news or whatever and life will continue. At least until the day comes when one of us eats their final donut. Until then, our gathering represents a microcosm of seniors who are pretty much ignored in this country including how our sabotaged economy is affecting us.

Our illustrious politicians all pander to us for our valuable votes. They promise all sorts of things and even the world which of course is not theirs to give; all for the price of a ballot. But when so many gullible, trusting seniors vote them into office they are promptly ignored and dismissed. The politicians know that we’ll probably die off pretty soon anyway so not to worry. Besides, there’s a whole new generation of seniors coming down the pike that they can lie to for votes.

Why Is Gold So High Right Now?

What causes the surging gold prices we see? How can some commodities soar to staggeringly high prices when the fundamentals are in the negative? This year gold reached $1007 an ounce, the highest price of gold since March of 2008. This means gold has risen 12% since April.

What are the reasons for this? You might be tempted to think its because of the basics, but its not. The World Gold Council published a report that states craving for gold accessories has declined by 22% and industrial uses for gold has declined by 21% since 2008. The only component that has remained high in the current gold arena is speculation, which has grown by 46%.

In addition, gold is thought to be a way to fight inflation, which is why a lot of people are drawn to this commodity. However, when looking at specific data published by the Department of Labor, the Gold Consumer Price Index dropped by 2.1% in twelve months. This indicates that inflation has not occurred. You might be wondering what people are worried about then.

This currency is being debased because of the Federal balance sheet is enlarging in size. Gold could go either way, deflation will only further debase our currency, while inflation is never an optimal scenario either, so gold apparently benefits if either situation occurs.

Another factor in support of gold is how low the current US interest rates are. The method by which banks charge other banks for loans, known as the London interbank dollar rate, has fallen 4.8% since October of last year to an unprecedented 0.314%. Because you do not earn interest by having gold, you have something known as an opportunity cost which you do not have with any other form of investment, such as bonds. However, given the current value of the dollar, the opportunity cost of having gold as opposed to bonds is insignificant.

What this means is that the fundamentals have absolutely nothing to do with the high price of gold; it is dependent solely upon financial speculation. This means that there is absolutely no way to know what is going to happen to the price of gold in the future.

What To Consider When Hiring A Platte City Attorney

Attorneys take care of very important issues which arise within our life. They are just as important as a doctor when it comes to getting things taken care of which we cannot handle on our own. For this reason, you should put plenty of consideration into any lawyer you may be considering for hire. You would not just randomly pick a physician to take care of an important health issue, so you should put in at least as much interest in picking your attorney. If you are thinking of hiring a Platte City Attorney, there are a few things you should consider.

In your search to find an acceptable attorney, you’ll be putting in plenty of time sorting through plenty of information. Your local phone book is a great way to begin your search, as you will have names of local attorneys in your area. You will also see that there are some attorneys which only handle certain types of cases such as personal injury. You have to decide if your situation fits into one of these specific types of law firms. This will save you time in getting turned away when you interview a law firm.

It may take you a little while to find the attorney you need. There are several reasons why a lawyer may not fit your needs. Sometimes it can be something as simple as a personality clash between you and the lawyer. If you need a lawyer which is sympathetic to your situation, it will be necessary to find one which has that character trait.

In your search to find the perfect attorney, you should turn to your family and friends and ask them if they have used an attorney within the last few years. If they have, they will be able to tell you of their experience, so you will know whether or not you would like to speak to the attorney they used. A personal reference goes a long way in both business and in personal relations. When someone cares enough to give a personal reference, you can be assured they were happy with their experience.

After you have collected personal references, it will be time for you to go and actually meet each attorney. You should note that a law firm may assign your case to another attorney once you sign on to let them handle your case. Make sure that you let the person you are speaking with know that you want to meet the actual attorney who will be handling your case.

Once you find out who is going to be the primary attorney on your case, there are some critical issues you must discuss prior to proceeding. Make sure you pay attention to the demeanor of the attorney while you discuss doing business with them. It will tell you a lot about them, and let you know whether or not you feel comfortable with them.

You will need to ask the attorney how much experience they have with this type of case. If they have not had any experience with a case such as yours, it may not be a good idea to use them. Getting an experienced lawyer will help you not only in negotiations, it will pay off in the courtroom should your situation come to trial.

Legal fees are a big concern for anyone who must seek out the services of an attorney. You will want to discuss legal fees upfront and not be shy about letting the attorney know you are serious about full disclosure on how much you will be charged. You will need to know whether you will be responsible for fees or if they will take them from any money awarded to you. Also, if you are going to be liable for all fees, you need to know if they have a payment schedule. These are all very important questions you must ask before you decide on which Platte City attorney you choose to handle your case.

How Much Money Are You Going To Get From Obama?

Comments Off

Posted on 25th November 2009 by Simon Wertion in Politics

Did some people actually vote for Obama because they thought he was going to give them money? If this is true, what are these people going to do when they find out they will not be getting anything? The truth is that Barack Obama doesn’t have any money to give out and as a nation we are pretty much bankrupt.

This is a dangerous time for our country and people are just not informed about the situation. They don’t understand how the economy works and they think the government is some magical entity that has unlimited resources. Perhaps this is why so many people voted for Obama thinking they were going to be getting something for nothing. What is going to happen to his popularity when things continue to go downhill and perhaps even get worse faster?

Right now the United State government has no money to give. Many companies are going out of business and it is tough times all around. Yes, the government can just print more money but if they do that, it devalues all the existing dollars and hurts us all. That has never stopped the government from doing it before but eventually it will catch up to us and we will have lots of inflation. That time of high inflation just might be right around the corner.

Another thing that Obama is dealing with are student loans. He is hoping to take private industry out of the equation and have all the loans go through the government. His argument is that private industry trys to make a profit on the loans and the students suffer with the high interest rates they are charged. He thinks the government can give out the loans at a lower rate and everyone will benefit. There is much disagreement about this but one thing is for sure: colleges cost too much and our kids start off in life with a huge college loan they have to dig out from under.

Whether all this spending the US government is doing will end up working to keep our country out of trouble is yet to be seen. It could work but since we have never been in this predicament before, no one knows whether it will work. It may also put our country in a deeper hole than ever before too.

Criminal Law for The Layman

How does the US criminal justice system decide just what is a crime? How does the whole world of criminal law work, and where did it come from? If we go back to Roman times we find that there was no criminal law, and that all offenses were deemed to be against the individual. It was only after the Romans that the concept of crimes against society emerged. Murder, rape and the like were given a special classification in order to protect the social order.

When something is harmful to society as a whole, rather than just an individual, it is elevated to the status of being a criminal offense. When facing a criminal charge a defendant is likely to face jail time. This contrasts with offenses against an individual which are handled by civil law, and more likely to be punished by a monetary penalty.

For a crime to have been committed two conditions need to be present: the criminal must have had a criminal intent, and they have to have undertaken the act. Mens rea is the legal term for criminal intent, and actus reus is the legal term for having committed the act. There are some rare crimes that do not need these two conditions to be present, and these are crimes of strict liability. With these crimes it does not matter whether there was intent or not.

Crimes are defined by state statutes, federal statutes and case law. Case law is where precedents are set at specific trials that decide where a certain action is criminal or not. Judges publish their reasons for making the decisions they did and this becomes case law. There are many nuances to the law and defense attorneys have plenty of scope to refute charges.

There are a number of elements that make up a criminal offense, and in the US criminal justice system the main thing that is debated in the trial courtrooms nationwide is whether each of these elements was present. This holds true whether the trial is in the state courts, federal courts, or special state criminal courts

The US criminal justice system determines whether or not crimes have taken place. It does so by determining whether the elements of the criminal offense were present. If you are facing criminal charges you are up against some might resources. This web site covers some interesting aspects of criminal law: http://hubpages.com/hub/Criminal-Liability-and-Actus-Reus

There is no central grant office that in charge of the many grant programs available. Instead the federal government utilizes 26 individual agencies, each in charge of administering a limited part of the grant initiatives.

The departments determine how public money is used and what organizations receive it. Since awarding agencies are so important for the grant process it is crucial for potential recipients to learn about them.

Below is a breakdown of a few of the grant agencies. If any of the agencies seem to work with topics you are interested in you should inquire directly with the organization to find out whether you could be a candidate for money.

One of the most effective agencies, the Department of Education is in charge of coordinating public school programs across the nation. As the agency with the responsibility to ensure equal access to schooling for all groups of individuals this department supports educational programs on many levels. The agency is dedicated to expanding the cooperation of students and educational experts.

There are many grant programs that are designed to support volunteering. These initiatives are commonly organized by the Corporation for National and Community Service. This agency is a major funding source for of at home service and is in charge of many wide reaching initiatives including Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America.

Originally created in the early’60′s, the Department of Agriculture is accountable for ensuring steady food production. To accomplish this the Department of Agriculture oversees close to 200 million acres of public range lands and monitors food quality regulations. The USDA is accountable for opening expanded markets for US farmers around the world.

A wide reaching administrative organization, the Department of Commerce is responsible for supporting the United States’ technical and economic development. To perform their job the department is extensively involved in international commerce policy.

The responsibility of ensuring the transportation system of the country is structurally sound is the domain of the Department of Transportation. The department has to ensure that roadways are functional both currently and in the future.

The majority of the government grant money is being paid out as stimulus grants to assist the slowing economy. There are federal grants for individuals and awards meant for businesses, discovering a suitable grant is vital for receiving money.

What Is The Link Between Managed Care Healthcare And Business Risk?

Proper healthcare facilities are the right of every citizen. Over the years the government has devised programs that try and provide the best possible healthcare services to its citizens. The managed care healthcare program is one such program that was started by the government to provide better healthcare facilities to the people at a very small fee. Different healthcare programs like the health management organization, point of service managed care, preferred provider organization etc. have over the years been successful programs that help people with all their healthcare needs.

The usual plan in managed care healthcare was that a person could get enrolled into any of the managed care programs at a small fee. Once enrolled, he or she could consult any person amongst the premium doctors on panel in each such program. In return for such treatments provided by the doctors, the government gave them access to their funds.

The different programs that are mentioned above – HMO, IPO, PPO, POS etc. are all offshoots of this basic principle with slight differences. For example in the IPO – the Independent Practice Association, the doctors that are associated with the managed care healthcare program also carry out their own healthcare practice besides the one that they provide to the people.

There are different variants of the managed healthcare program and all these variants are based on the same principle with slight differences.

The most important part of having and working with managed care is the management of risk. If you can enroll a large number of people in the program, then you are also adding the responsibility of that many people to your kitty. Any number of these people might need treatment that might cost really big.

Under the circumstances, most small organizations will not be able to survive. On the other hand if you have an organization that is really large with a huge number of people enrolled into the program then it will be able to manage the finances better in the circumstances.

This is why for any managed care healthcare program, risk management is a very important thing that needs to be understood and taken care of. Risk management, especially financial risk management programs need to be implemented from the grass root level in such organization as that is the only way they can actually afford to and be able to provide low cost health services to people.

The impact of managed healthcare programs on the lives of patients is still an open ended debate with many studies showing that it has actually increased the cost of care of patients by as much as 25-30%.

The Horrors Of The Khmer Rouge

Posted on 21st November 2009 by Kevin Meas in Politics

The Khmer Rouge is the communist party of Cambodia, ruled by Pol Pot from’75 to’79. It is the worst nightmare that the world has ever seen.

The Khmer Rouge had thousands of followers and an insurgency had begun against the government in the year’70. With the aid of the Viet Cong troops and the North Vietnamese, the Khmer Rouge gained control over a large part of Cambodia. It grew very popular in a short time and increased from 3,000 to 30,000 in strength in just three years, from’70 to’73, sending back the Viet Cong troops and Vietnamese whose help was no longer needed.

Finally, led by Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge overthrew the Cambodian government in’75, after which the “Democratic Kampuchea” was established. Literally overnight, the new governance took cruel and drastic measures. Entire cities were evacuated. Property was abolished. Factories were closed. Schools were shut down. Money did not hold any value. Hundreds of thousands of taxi drivers, cooks, factory workers, clerks and everyone else became farmers suddenly. They even assassinated skilled workers and intellectuals, and many others died due to starvation. Records show that at least 2 million people died. Cambodia was reduced to nothing but a nation of slaves.

In’79, because of a strained relationship, the Vietnamese troops invaded and helped the local factions in getting rid of the Khmer Rouge government. Unfazed by this, the Khmer Rouge continued its activities near the Thai border, with its 30,000 strong army. The United Nations recognized it as the official government of Cambodia.

After two years, the government formed a coalition with Norodom Sihanouk, the former premier and Son Sann, a non-communist leader. The leader of the Khmer Rouge was no longer Pol Pot but Khieu Samphan. However, it is said that Pol Pot still remained the unofficial leader. UN supervised elections were requested by the different Cambodian factions looking for some sort of a peace and this was fulfilled in’92, with UN taking over the government administration. Around that time, the Khmer Rouge did not acknowledge the results of the elections and withdrew itself from the peace treaty. Finally, it began to fight again.

Internal disputes led the Khmer Rouge to disintegrate in’97, leading to the imprisonment of Pol Pot. He died soon after in’98, bringing to a close what was the worst reign of modern times. By’99, all the other members of the Khmer Rouge were defected, captured or surrendered.

Not many scholars believed the reports of mass killings in Cambodia before’79; however, when the Khmer Rouge was overtaken by the Vietnamese, the extent of the disaster was clear to all.

The Khmer Rouge even till this day evokes a sense of shock from Cambodians as well as the whole world, not just due to the death toll, which does not reflect the brutalities and tortures they carried out during their regime. The severity of their rule was such that there probably was no other revolution which changed the lives of an entire population.
